How can we help?

Browse answers to common questions about Petsly — bookings, payments, sitters, and more.

🔍

🚀 Getting Started

What is Petsly and how does it work?
Petsly is a pet care marketplace that connects pet owners with trusted, verified local sitters. Download the app, create your profile and add your pets, then browse available sitters near you. You can view their services, pricing, availability, and reviews before booking in just a few taps.
How do I download the Petsly app?
Petsly is available for iOS and Android. Search for "Petsly" in the App Store or Google Play Store, or visit petsly.pet and tap the download button for your platform.
Do I need an account to browse sitters?
You can browse sitter profiles without an account, but you'll need to create a free account to message sitters, book a service, or leave a review. Sign up takes less than two minutes.
Can I be both a pet owner and a sitter?
Yes. During sign-up you can choose your primary role, and you can always enable sitter features later from your profile settings. Your owner and sitter dashboards are separate but accessible from the same account.

📅 Bookings

How do I book a sitter?
Open the app, go to the Search tab and enter your location and desired dates. Browse matching sitters, select the service you need, and tap "Book Now". Review the price breakdown and confirm — the sitter will receive your request and can accept or decline within 24 hours.
Can I cancel or modify a booking?
Yes. Open your Bookings tab, select the booking and tap "Cancel" or contact your sitter to discuss changes. Cancellation terms depend on how far in advance you cancel — full details are shown before you confirm. For modifications (e.g. extra pets or changed dates), message your sitter directly through the in-app chat.
What happens if a sitter declines my booking request?
If a sitter is unable to accept, you'll be notified and your payment will not be charged. You're free to send a request to another available sitter. The Petsly support team can also help you find a suitable sitter — reach out to support@petsly.pet.
How do I know my pet is safe during a booking?
All sitters on Petsly go through a verification process before they can accept bookings. For eligible services, you can also enable live GPS tracking so you can follow your pet's walk in real time from the app.

💳 Payments & Pricing

How does payment work?
Petsly uses Stripe for secure payments. Your card is charged only after a sitter accepts your booking request. Payment is held by Petsly and released to the sitter after the service is completed, giving you peace of mind.
Are there any platform fees?
A small service fee is included in the price shown at checkout. There are no hidden charges — the total displayed before you confirm is exactly what you pay.
Can I get a refund?
If you cancel within the cancellation window shown at booking, you'll receive a full refund. Cancellations outside that window may be subject to a partial fee. If something goes wrong during a booking, contact us at support@petsly.pet and we'll review the situation.
Do you support discount codes or vouchers?
Yes. If you have a promo code or voucher, you can apply it at checkout. Referral credits are also applied automatically when you invite friends who sign up and complete their first booking.

🐕 For Sitters

How do I become a sitter on Petsly?
Download the app, sign up and select the sitter role during onboarding. Complete your profile, set your services and pricing, define your availability, and submit your identity verification. Once approved, your profile will be visible to pet owners in your area.
What services can I offer?
Petsly supports a range of services including dog walking, pet boarding (overnight stays at your home), home visits (drop-in check-ins), day care, and house sitting. You choose which services you offer and set your own rates.
When and how do I get paid?
Earnings are released after a booking is marked complete. Payouts are processed via Stripe to your linked bank account. Processing time depends on your bank but is typically 1–3 business days after release.
What is the identity verification process?
To protect pet owners and their pets, all sitters must complete a KYC (Know Your Customer) identity check before accepting paid bookings. You'll be prompted to upload a valid government-issued ID through the app. The review typically takes 1–2 business days.

🔒 Account & Safety

How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter the email address associated with your account. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive. If you signed up with Google or Apple, use those sign-in options instead.
How is my personal data used?
We take privacy seriously. Your data is used only to operate the platform and improve your experience. We do not sell personal data to third parties. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
How do I report a problem with a sitter or owner?
You can report a user directly from their profile or from a booking chat by tapping the report icon. For urgent safety concerns, email us at support@petsly.pet with "URGENT" in the subject line and we'll prioritize your case.
How do I delete my account?
You can request account deletion from Profile → Settings → Delete Account inside the app, or visit our account deletion page. All your data will be permanently removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Step-by-step guides

Follow these to do the most common things in the Petsly app.

🧭 For everyone

How do I change the app language?

Where: the “Profile” tab → “App Settings” (in the “Support & Settings” section, or the gear icon at the top of your profile). On the web app there is also a “Language” shortcut in the profile sidebar.

  1. Go to “Profile” → “App Settings”.
  2. In the “Preferences” section, tap the “Language” row — its subtitle shows the language you are using now.
  3. Pick your language from the list. English and Greek are always available; more may appear if extra languages are enabled for your account.
  4. The app switches instantly and shows “Language preference updated successfully”. Your choice is saved to your account and re-applies every time you sign in.

💡 The “Languages” field in Edit Profile is different — it lists the languages you speak on your public profile, not the app’s display language.

How do I edit my profile details?

Where: the “Profile” tab → the pencil / edit icon at the top of your profile (sitters and organizations can also use the “Edit Profile” menu row).

  1. Open “Edit Profile”.
  2. Move between the tabs: “Basic Information”, “Location”, “About Me”, “Personality”, “Socials” and “Portfolio”.
  3. On “Basic Information”, tap “Change Photo” to update your picture and edit your “Display Name” and “Phone Number” (tap “Verify” to confirm your number by SMS).
  4. On “Location”, tap “Use Current Location” to drop a pin, or fill in Country → City → Postcode → Address. Sitters can also set address privacy and a service radius.
  5. Fill in “About Me”, “Personality”, “Socials” and your “Portfolio” photos as you like.
  6. Changes save automatically as you go; tap the checkmark at the top to finish. You’ll see “Profile updated successfully!”. A display name is required.

💡 Organization admins get two rows — “Edit Profile” for their personal details and “Edit Organization” for the business.

How do I share phone numbers in a booking chat?

Where: the “Messages” tab → the chat tied to your booking (the one with the booking card at the top).

Before you start: phone numbers unlock automatically once the booking is “Accepted” (or later). For everyone’s safety you can’t type or paste a number into the chat — use the built-in “Call” action instead.

  1. Once the booking is “Accepted”, open its conversation in “Messages”.
  2. Tap the “+” (Actions) button to the left of the message box.
  3. Scroll to the “More” section and tap “Call”.
  4. A “Call [name]” popup shows the other person’s number — tap “Call” to dial, or “Cancel” to just note it.

💡 The exchange is mutual and automatic after acceptance — both sides reveal each other’s number this way. Petsly never posts numbers into the chat itself.

🐾 For pet owners

How do I book a sitter?

Where: the “Search” tab (the “Search” item in the sidebar on desktop web).

Before you start: add at least one pet to your profile — you’ll choose your pet during booking.

  1. Open “Search” — Petsly lists nearby sitters and organizations, nearest first.
  2. Optional: use the “Find the perfect sitter” form (service, dates, pets) or “Filters” to narrow the results.
  3. Tap “Book Now” on a card, or open a profile first and then tap “Book Now”.
  4. Step through the wizard with “Next”: choose a “Service”, any “Add-Ons”, the “Time”, your “Pets”, and an “Address” if the service needs one.
  5. On “Review”, tap “Continue to Payment”, check the summary and tap “Pay [amount]”.
  6. Your card is only held, not charged — it’s captured when the sitter accepts, and released if the booking is cancelled. You’ll see “Payment Successful!” — tap “View Booking”.

💡 Not sure who to pick? Post one broadcast request and let sitters send you offers (see below).

How do I post one request and let sitters come to me?

Where: the “Home” tab → the “Can’t decide? Let sitters reach you” card, or the “Broadcast request” button on the “Search” tab.

  1. On “Home”, tap “Send Request” on the “Can’t decide? Let sitters reach you” card.
  2. Pick a “Service” and tap “Next” — the rates shown are averages; the final total depends on each offer.
  3. Choose the “Time”, then select your “Pets”.
  4. On “Review”, add any “Additional Notes”, then tap “Send to available sitters”. No payment is taken yet.
  5. You land on “Your request is now live” — tap “View request” to watch offers arrive.
  6. Compare the sitters’ offers and pick one. You only pay after you choose an offer and add any extras.

💡 You confirm your exact address after you pick a sitter — the broadcast only shows sitters your general area.

How do I arrange a meet & greet?

Where: open the booking in the “Bookings” tab and tap the “Meet & Greet” pill in the bottom action bar. Owners also see a “Want to meet first?” card right after paying.

Before you start: a booking must already exist and the service must support meet & greets (e.g. boarding or house sitting). The meeting itself is free.

  1. Open the booking, tap “Meet & Greet”, then “Request”.
  2. Under “Pick the days that work for you”, tap dates on the calendar or use a chip (“Tomorrow”, “This weekend”, “Next 3 days”).
  3. Set a daily “From” / “To” time window and choose a duration (“30 minutes” or “1 hour”), then tap “Send request”. The meet & greet takes place at the owner’s home.
  4. The other person picks an exact slot (“Choose a time”) or proposes different times.
  5. Once locked in you’ll see “Meet & Greet scheduled”, with “Open chat” and “Reschedule” options.

💡 Either side can start a meet & greet, and because your booking amount is only held until the sitter accepts, you effectively meet before you’re charged.

How do I follow my pet’s walk live on the map?

Where: open the walking booking in the “Bookings” tab and tap the “GPS tracking” pill. Available in the iOS / Android app.

  1. During the walk, open the dog-walking booking and tap “GPS tracking”.
  2. Tap the “View Live GPS” card to watch your sitter’s location and route in real time.
  3. If tracking isn’t on yet, tap “Request GPS” to nudge your sitter to turn it on — the badge changes to “GPS requested”.

💡 Live GPS runs in the phone app (not the web app) and is available for walking-type services once the booking is accepted.

🐕 For sitters & pros

How do I set up payouts and get paid?

Where: the “Sitter Dashboard” → the “Earnings & Payouts” card → “View Earnings”. You can also do this during sign-up at the “Payouts” step.

  1. Open “Earnings”. If your bank isn’t linked the status card reads “Setup Required” — tap it, or tap “Set Up Bank Account”.
  2. On the “Set Up Payouts” sheet, tap “Connect with Stripe” and complete Stripe’s secure form (identity and bank details).
  3. Back in the app the status refreshes to “Bank Account Connected” (or “Verification Pending” while Stripe reviews).
  4. Earnings are released after a booking is completed and its review window closes. When you have an available balance, tap “Request Payout”, keep the bookings you want to release checked, and tap “Confirm Payout Request”.
  5. Funds reach your bank in about 2–5 business days. View past payouts from the “Payout History” (clock) icon.

💡 Turn on “Automatic payout” to have your balance sent to your bank automatically. Set your correct country before connecting — it can’t be changed afterwards.

How do I add or edit my services and pricing?

Where: the “Profile” tab → the “Business Management” section → “Service Pricing”.

  1. Open “Service Pricing”. Existing services are grouped under “Active” and “Inactive” tabs.
  2. To add one, tap the “+” button (or “Add Service” on desktop web) to open the 5-step wizard.
  3. “What do you offer?” — pick the service type (this can’t be changed later).
  4. “Set your price” — type your rate; the unit (e.g. per night) follows the service type. Optionally add an extra-pet price.
  5. Add optional “Add-ons”, set your “Availability”, then tap “Save Service”.
  6. To edit later, tap the pencil on a service card and open a section (“Pricing”, “Availability”, “Description”). Use the pause / play icon to deactivate or activate, or the trash icon to remove it.

💡 Inactive services aren’t visible to pet owners. Deleting hides a service but keeps the past bookings that used it.

How do I respond to a request with an offer?

Where: the “Sitter Dashboard” → “Broadcast requests” (opens the “Broadcast Requests” feed). On web this is the “Requests” sub-tab of “Bookings”.

Before you start: your identity check (KYC) must be approved and your payouts set up before you can send offers.

  1. On the “Active” tab, tap an open request to open “Request Details”.
  2. Optional: tap “Check Availability” to cross-check your own calendar.
  3. Review the price breakdown — prices auto-fill from your rates; tap the pencil on a row to change one, or type a price for quote-only services.
  4. Add an optional “Message to owner”, then tap “Offer / Claim”.
  5. You’ll see “Offer sent” and the button changes to “Offer Submitted”. You can “Withdraw Offer” while it’s pending.

💡 Sending an offer doesn’t create a booking — the owner compares offers and picks one. If yours is chosen, an “Open booking” button appears.

How do I send a quote in chat?

Where: the “Messages” tab → the conversation with your customer → the “+” (Actions) button.

Before you start: this may need to be enabled for your account. You first ask permission and the customer accepts before a quote can be sent.

  1. In the chat, tap “+” → “Request to send a quote” (under “This booking”).
  2. Wait for the customer to tap “Accept” (they can also start it with “Ask for a quote”).
  3. Reopen “+” → “Send quote” to open the wizard: pick the pet(s), the service(s) and your price, and the schedule.
  4. Review the “Overview” and price breakdown, add an optional note, then tap “Send quote”.
  5. The customer sees a “Quote” card, taps “View quote” → “Continue to payment”, and paying turns it into a confirmed booking.

💡 Only one active quote is allowed per chat at a time.

How do I create a Pay by Link for an off-app client?

Where: the “Profile” tab → “Request booking / payment” → “My pay links”.

Before you start: Pay by Link may need to be enabled for your account, and your payouts must be set up. The customer’s email must not already belong to a Petsly account.

  1. Open “My pay links” and tap the “+” (or “Create link”).
  2. In the builder, pick the service(s) and type each price, then set the “Time”.
  3. On the “Customer” step, enter the customer’s name and email (the link is sent there), plus any pet details.
  4. On “Review”, tap “Generate payment link”. The “Share payment link” screen shows a QR code and a copyable link — Petsly also emails it to the customer.
  5. The customer opens the link in a browser, verifies a 6-digit code, reviews the booking and pays by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. It then appears in your bookings automatically.

💡 Manage links from “My pay links” — “Copy link”, “Resend” or “Cancel” (unpaid links only).

How do I send photo proof during a booking?

Where: the “Bookings” tab → open the accepted / confirmed booking → the “Proof Photos” pill.

  1. Open the booking you’re caring for (status “Accepted” or “Confirmed”) and tap “Proof Photos”.
  2. Under “Select category”, choose a chip: “Pet”, “House”, “Walk”, “Feeding” or “General”.
  3. Optionally add a caption, then tap “Upload Photo” and pick a photo from your device.
  4. You’ll see “Photo uploaded successfully!” and the photo appears in the carousel.
  5. The owner sees your photo on their read-only “Proof Photos” tab. Tap the trash icon to remove one of yours.

💡 The upload area only shows while the booking is active (Accepted or Confirmed). The owner only views photos — they never upload.

How do I share my live location during a walk?

Where: the “Bookings” tab → open the dog-walking booking → the “GPS tracking” pill → “Activate GPS tracking”. Available in the iOS / Android app.

Before you start: GPS works for walking-type services once the booking is “Accepted” or “Confirmed”, in the phone app (not the web app).

  1. Open the walking booking, tap “GPS tracking”, then “Activate GPS tracking”.
  2. On Android, tap “Continue” on the background-location notice, then grant your device’s location prompt — choose “Allow all the time” so it records in the background.
  3. Sharing starts — the pill turns green with a “Live” badge, and Android shows a “Live location sharing is ON” notification.
  4. Optional: tap “View My Route” to watch your path on the map.
  5. When the walk is over, tap “Stop tracking” (marking the booking Completed also stops it).

💡 Granting location and starting to share happen together — there’s no separate switch. The owner follows your route in real time.

How do I set my featured intro video?

Where: the “Profile” tab → “Portfolio & Photos” (opens “Edit Profile” on the “Portfolio” tab).

Before you start: video uploads may need to be enabled for your account. Clips are limited to about 60 seconds and 50 MB.

  1. Open “Portfolio & Photos” (or “Edit Profile” → “Portfolio”).
  2. Tap the round “+” button in the Portfolio card and pick a video clip.
  3. Once it uploads (a thumbnail with a play icon), tap the pencil on that clip to open “Edit Photo”.
  4. Optionally add a caption and service tag, turn on “Set as Featured”, then tap “Save”.
  5. It now shows a gold “Featured” badge and appears as the large hero video at the top of your public profile.

💡 Only one item can be featured at a time — setting a new one automatically un-features the old.
